COVID-19 Update

Dear Patient,

As a valued member of Manhattan Internal Medicine Associates P.C., we appreciate the trust you place in us. On Monday May 4, 2020 our office will be re-open to serve our patients and communities. Our in-office hours will be 8:30-2:30 Monday-Thursday. At MIMA we have the right people with the right training and processes to ensure a healthy environment for everyone at all times. Social distancing techniques and appropriate protective equipment will be in place.

Our efforts to provide you the safest and most effective care will be an on-going priority during these rapidly evolving circumstances. Our offices are following all recommended guidance from public health authorities, including best practices for hygiene, infection control, and medical professional team health. We are confident in our ability to continue seeing patients and providing you the best care that you have come to expect and deserve. To schedule your next appointment, please call our office at 212-725-5300 or email us at

We’ve implemented a COVID-19 specific protocol. This protocol includes instrument disinfection, rearranged waiting rooms to allow for greater social distancing, thorough surface cleaning and exam room sanitizing between patients. Patients will also have the opportunity to wait in their cars and complete check-in via email. Our physicians and staff are provided personal protective equipment (PPE). When patients enter the office, we ask that you also utilize PPE equipment (mask and gloves) as well as cleaning your hands using the provided hand sanitizing station. You’ll will not be allowed into the office unless you are wearing a mask or at least a homemade covering scarf, or bandana at all times when on the premises.

The safety of our patients and communities we serve is our number one priority. Patients will be properly assessed for COVID-19 risks (via phone or email) prior to being allowed into the office. It will be reinforced numerous times that our offices are not the venue for patients with symptoms consistent with a significant risk of ongoing COVID infection. If we feel that you do not meet guidelines for an in office visit you will be offered to schedule a video/telephone visit with your physician.

To help you prepare for your appointment, please keep the following in mind: patients should not arrive more than 15 minutes prior to your appointment. Do not come earlier than your scheduled time, this will limit the number of patients in our office at one time. All patients must be wearing a mask or a scarf. All patients will sign in and immediately take a seat in a designated chair in the waiting room.

Only the patient is allowed in the office. For all patients who require a caretaker, one adult may accompany the patient. No children will be allowed to enter the office. We are taking every precaution to particularly ensure the safety of our more vulnerable

For Patients age 65 you must consider as to whether your problem warrants leaving your home at this time to come to the office. You must weigh the degree to which you need to be seen with the increasing risk of serious consequences in contracting COVID- 19. This risk increases with increasing age so that someone 90 years old carries a greater risk than someone 65 years old. If you do not feel comfortable in the clinical setting, you can still schedule a virtual visit with your doctor by calling 212-725-5300.

MIMA will still be offering virtual visits for those patients who do not feel comfortable in the clinical setting. Manhattan Internal Medicine doctors will be able to discuss your symptoms and determine the most appropriate treatment plan, including recommending an in-office visit when necessary. But in our specialties, the quality of the medicine is distinctly superior when a patient is seen in the office.

Our highest priority is to keep all our patients and staff as safe as possible. If you have questions about this information or you help understanding our policy please call our office at 212-725-5300 or email us at
